Third Coronavirus Death In Montgomery County, 94 New Cases Found
Another Montgomery County resident has died from coronavirus, officials said Thursday. The 62-year-old is the county's third death thus far.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — Another Montgomery County resident has died from coronavirus, officials said Thursday afternoon. The 62-year-old man is the county's third death thus far.
The victim, a resident of Whitemarsh Township, was hospitalized at the time of his death, Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said. It's not clear if he had any other medical issues.

The county's two other victims were both elderly men from Abington Township: a 72-year-old man died on Sunday, and an84-year-old died on Wednesday.
A total of 94 new cases of coronavirus were discovered in the county Thursday, officials said. That brings the county's total to 313. The vast increase in positive cases is at least partially attributed to expanded testing options in the county.

There are 1,631 tests that have been done in Montgomery County. A total of 330 have already come back negative, in addition to the 313 positive. The results on hundreds of more are still being processed.
No recoveries have yet been announced in the county. While most cases are mild and patients are at home, several have required hospitalization.

The newly discovered positives Thursday include another a child under the age of 9, authorities said. There are now five children under the age of 9 who have tested positive in the county.
The Thursday positives includes spread to six new municipalities: Hatfield, Jenkintown, Norristown, Souderton, Upper Hanover, and Upper Pottsgrove.
The statewide total of cases rose to 1,687 on Thursday.
