Ward 1 Sees Large Turnout in Conshohocken

While some areas of the borough are slow, Ward 1 has seen above-average voter turnout, according to workers.

With the day half over, Ward 1 has seen Conshohocken’s strongest voter turnout, according to poll workers.

125 voters have passed through Lee Towers on Third Street as of 11:45 a.m., according to pollsters, a high for a borough that has seen middling turnout elsewhere.

Republican council candidate Chris Savage cites an increased voted interest as a reason for the turnout.

“We’ve seen more voters here at this point than we’ve seen in past years,” he said. “I believe its because people are more concerned about the future of the borough.”

Savage, along with Democratic candidate Raj Gupta, say they plan to stay at their Ward 1 voting locations to campaign until the polls close at 8 p.m.

“This whole process has been amazing,” Gupta said. “Getting out and meeting my neighbors, getting a chance to connect with people and learning about myself personally, it’s been great.”

Both candidates say they are hopeful for even more turnout in the afternoon hours.

“I’m very excited,” Savage said. “voters who come out in the afternoon are re-energized about the process. It’s tiring, but I am very excited to connect with the afternoon voters.”

Gupta said he expects a “big finish” approaching 8 p.m.

“It’s been a really good turnout,” he said. “Really strong amount of people and we should only see more as the day goes on.”
