WPD Reports: Suspected DUI Crash, Daughter Assaults Father

All information is according to official police reports filed at the Whitemarsh Township Police Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

DUI:
At approximately 7:09 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30, Whitemarsh Police responded to a two-vehicle accident at 435 Germantown Pike. There, they determined that a blue Nissan truck driving eastbound attempted to make a left turn into Tonelli’s Takeout, without proper clearance, causing a Cadillac SUV to slam into it.

Police say that upon speaking with the driver of the Nissan, a 70-year-old Lafayette Hill man, they detected the odor of alcohol inside his vehicle and observed a drinking glass with ice cubes on the floor.

Police than had the driver perform several field sobriety tests, with which he struggled, a report said. The suspect was taken into custody under suspicion of DUI and transported to an area hospital for a blood test.

Assault:
At approximately 9:46 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, police were dispatched to the 4000 block of North Warner Road for the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival, they were met by a female resident of the home, who told police that her intoxicated 25-year-old daughter was assaulting her father. Upon entering the home, police say they observed the father lying on his back, covering his head with his hands, as the daughter was kneeling next to him and repeatedly punching him. A police report lists the woman as being four inches shorter and fifteen pounds lighter than her father.

Police detained the woman “without incident.” There was a small pool of blood from a laceration on the man’s head, but he refused treatment, police said. The suspect was taken into custody and transported to the Whitemarsh Police station.

Theft:
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, a resident of the 4000 block of Presidential Drive, Lafayette Hill, told police that someone entered his vehicle sometime overnight and stole $2,000 in cash and a pair of sunglasses. The vehicle, along with a second car, was entered sometime between 10 p.m. and 6:45 a.m.

Theft:
At approximately 7:31 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, Whitemarsh police were dispatched to the Jiffy Lube at 814 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, for the report of a theft. Upon arrival, a customer of the business told police that she believed her watch was taken from the center console of her vehicle as it was being serviced.

The woman further told she had taken off the watch after work and drove straight to the Jiffy Lube, and placed it in the closed center console. When the car was finished being serviced, the console was open and the watch gone, the woman said.

Both employees who serviced the vehicle denied taking the watch.

Burglary:
At approximately 10:17 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, police were dispatched to a home on the first block of Maple Drive, Conshohocken, for the report of a burglary. Upon arrival, a resident told police that he believed his home had been burglarized on Nov. 23, the same night as his next-door neighbor’s.

The victim told police that his wallet had gone missing from his kitchen counter that night, but that he thought he misplaced it. A further investigation found that the burglar had entered the home by sliding open a rear window and slicing the screen. The victim told police that the wallet contained $25 and about seven credit cards, one of which had been used since the burglary.
