Cook Wissahickon Teacher Raises $1k To Bring Shakespearean Actor: Report

A local teacher has gone above and beyond in his efforts to bring Shakespeare to life for his students.

Cook Wissahickon Elementary School teacher Jose Ramos raised $1,000 to bring a Shakesperean actor into his classroom, according to a report.

Ramos reportedly started a fundraiser on DonorsChoose.org to hire an actor from the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theater to work with students on scenes from Othello, Montgomery Media News reports.

“They may have trouble with the reading, they may have trouble with the writing, but when they get to show what they know through performance, it’s a whole different story,” Ramos reportedly said.

DonorsChoose.org provides various ways for teachers and students to raise funds for new projects, field trips, and other educational initiatives.
