Fire Damage At New Ridge Brewing Prolongs Closure

The brewery said on social media that the damage sustained in last week's fire was worse than previously expected, extending its closure.

ROXBOROUGH, PHILADELPHIA — The damage incurred at New Ridge Brewing Co. in Roxborough in a fire last week turned out to be worse than previously believed.

In a social media post Sunday, the business said "the damage is more extensive than we initially thought and it's going to take us some more time to get things up and running again."

New Ridge closed on Thursday after a fire destroyed equipment in the back of the business, and the brewery sustained some damage in the Philadelphia Fire Department's response.

The inside of the restaurant and the kitchen were untouched, officials said last week.

"We have to take a minute to thank everyone for the overwhelming support over the last few days," the brewery said on social media Sunday. "The calls, texts, emails, comments, offsite storage, offers to brew, offers to can, everything. The amount of love and help offered from this community and this industry is truly amazing and we wouldn't want to be surrounded by anyone else. We seriously can't thank you enough."

"Thank you for bearing with us, we can't wait to have you all back in the building."
