WEATHER ALERT: Nasty Snow, Sleet Storm To Hit Pennsylvania This Weekend

A potentially nasty storm is on tap for Sunday night into Monday, according to forecasters.

The Philadelphia Inquirer’s John Bolaris says a “complex” storm system will likely head to Pennsylvania, bringing with it a mix of snow and sleet late Sunday. Depending on temperatures, the wintry mix could linger through the morning commute and into the day Monday.

The Weather Channel is currently calling for a high temperature of 33 on Monday, with an 80 percent chance of freezing rain in the morning and more wintry mix at night.

The good news? There is a 40 degree day in the 10-day forecast. According to the Weather Channel, it will warm up a bit next weekend, with highs in the low 40s by Jan. 18.

The potential for a weekend storm follows days of extremely cold temperatures brought on by an arctic air mass and strong winds. Throughout the week, lows plummeted to the single digits, with a windchill that made it feel below zero at times.

Several counties throughout Pennsylvania have put in place Code Blue warnings, opening shelters and warming stations as the dangerously cold weather threatened those without shelter and heat.
