6-Foot Snake Found Slithering On Delco Driveway
The snake — a South American false water cobra — was captured by police and a local snake hobbyist, reports say.

A 6-foot cobra was found slithering around a Delaware County family's driveway this week, according to multiple reports.
The snake, which was identified as a South American false water cobra, is not native to the area but was found on the Springfield property. It was captured by police and a local snake hobbyist, Philly.com reports.
"I just saw this huge snake, which was the width of the driveway," resident Bess Sparks told 6ABC, which noted the owner has since been located.

According to Reptiles Magazine, the South American false water cobra is an "active, alert and shy snake." While they have fangs and are venomous, their bite is not lethal. Females are 4.5 to 5.5 feet long. Males commonly exceed 6 feet in length, the magazine said.
