7 Unlocked Vehicles Stolen From In 4 Nights: Springfield Police

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police issued their latest crime report recently, and the main focus is the continued vehicle break ins at Colonial Park.

The new report covers incidents between Dec. 31 and Jan. 6.

Dec. 31 to Jan. 4
Several residents reported overnight thefts from vehicles. Seven vehicles were entered over a four-night period in the unit block of Colonial Park Drive, 500 block of Hawarden Road, unit block of Worrell Drive and 400 block of Schollar Lane. Items stolen included a purse, a wallet, tools and loose change. All the entered vehicles were left unlocked.

Jan 5, 10:28 a.m.
Loughead Nissan, 755 S. Chester Road, reported a theft of tires. The dealership discovered eight wheels removed from two used cars parked on the lot. The value of the stolen parts was approximately $3,000. Det. Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.

Jan. 5, 2:45 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. William Bethard, 27, of Wilmington, Delaware, was observed selecting empty Target bags from a checkout lane after entering the store. He then filled the bags with merchandise and attempted to leave the store without rendering payment. Total value of the theft was $364. Bethard was placed under arrest and charged with retail theft. During processing, he was found to have an active warrant for a prior burglary. Sgt. John DiTrolio is handling the investigation.

Jan. 6, 2:07 p.m.
Sprint PCS, 1144 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. The manager stated a male customer removed an iPhone X from the display and ran from the store. The phone is valued at $1,000. Det. James Devaney is handling the investigation.
