Anti-Muslim Signs Found Outside Delco Mosque: Police

The signs were left outside a mosque earlier this week and police said they consider the threatening signs a hate crime.

Police in Delaware County are searching for a man who put anti-Muslim signs up around an local mosque earlier this week.

The signs were left at the Upper Darby Islamic Center on the 200 block of South 69th Street in the early hours of Monday, Nov. 27, police said.

The man was caught on camera walking to the mosque with items in black trash bags slung over his back at about 5:10 a.m. on Nov. 27. The footage, posted below, shows him leave items outside the building then walk away minutes later.

Police said the signs featured threatening anti-Muslim messages.

The signs, according to NBC10, accused Muslims of killing people, featured a skull, and threatened Muslims.

Additionally, authorities found several burned items outside the mosque.

Upper Darby Police Chief Michael Chitwood said he considers the act a hate crime, according to 6ABC.

The man is believed to be in his 50s or 60s who was wearing a red aviator-or hunting-style hat and a blue NASA jacket when he left the signs at the mosque, police said.
