Crack Possession, DUI Crash, Thefts: Springfield Police Blotter

Police in the township were busy last week. See the various crimes officers handled from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police released their weekly crime report Monday, Sept. 25, which highlights police activity in the township from Sept. 18 to Sept. 24.

Crimes included crack cocaine possession, vandalism, thefts, and a drunk dad with his three year old child who was arrested on a warrant, among other crimes.

Sept. 18, 12:31 p.m.
Jeanne McNamee 59, of Newtown Square, was charged with retail theft after being observed at Target at the mall stealing clothing and jewelry.

Sept. 18, 5:54 p.m.
Nicholas Patterson 20, of Sharon Hill, was charged with retail theft after being observed by Macy’s security selecting a jacket from display and attempting to walk out of the store wearing the jacket but not paying for the jacket.

Sept. 18, 6:40 p.m.
Two females entered the Best Buy store on the 600 block Baltimore Pike. One of the females distracted employees while the other was observed concealing a laptop computer under her dress. Both left the store together and fled in a vehicle. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Sept. 19, 4 p.m.
A patron of the Panera Bread reported that her wallet was taken from her purse as she ordered from one of the ordering kiosks inside the restaurant. Her credit cards were later used at several stores. Det. McNeely is investigating.

Sept. 19, 6:14 p.m.
A member of the LA Fitness reported his wallet stolen from a locker while he exercised. Someone had entered the locker by breaking the lock.

Sept. 19, 10:16 p.m.
Officer Cutcliff investigated a one vehicle crash on the 200 block Orchard Road and found the driver of the vehicle to be intoxicated. The vehicle had struck a utility pole. The driver was taken into custody and submitted to a blood test. Charges are pending.

Sept. 21, 3:51 a.m.
Police were called to the Days Inn on the 600 block Baltimore Pike to investigate a domestic altercation. Officer Kingsbury found Joseph Rainer 55, of Philadelphia, to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. He was taken into custody and held for arraignment on drug charges.

Sept. 21, 10:21 a.m.
A resident on the 400 block Beatty Road reported his mailbox damaged by someone taking it off the base.

Sept. 22, 2:38 p.m.
Shanya Williams 19, of New Castle, Delaware, was taken into custody and charged with retail theft after being observed at Target at the mall stealing women’s clothing and infant’s items. She was held for arraignment at Springfield Court.

Sept. 23, 3:38 p.m.
Police investigated an intoxicated subject on a SEPTA bus who was accompanied by his three year old son. Sgt. Welsh identified Charles Dean 31, of Collingdale, and found him to be intoxicated. He was taken into custody and found to have an active arrest warrant out of Delaware County for a probation violation. Dean was transported to Delaware County Prison. His son was turned over to family.

Sept. 24, 3:57 p.m.
Police investigated the theft of several cell phones from the Verizon Store on the 700 block West. Sproul Road. Employees reported observing two male subjects inside the store who looked like suspects from prior thefts at Verizon Stores throughout the area. Both subjects stole Samsung phones and pushed an employee while fleeing through the front door. They ran behind the shopping center and entered a red vehicle driven by a female. A short time later Upper Darby police observed the vehicle and stopped it in the Bond Shopping Center. The two males exited the vehicle and fled on foot before being apprehended. Keith Conquest 27, and Shaquille Williams, 23, both of Philadelphia, were taken into custody and charged with Theft and related offenses. They were both held for arraignment at Springfield Court.

Thefts from vehicles

Several unlocked vehicles were entered and small amounts of money were taken throughout the week from the Rolling Green area and Collins Drive area. Please remember to lock your vehicles and report suspicious activity.
