Springfield Police Blotter: Multiple Thefts, Vandalism, More
See what incidents police in the township handled from Oct. 23 to Oct. 28.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police issued their most recent crime report this week.
The new report highlights activity between Oct. 23 and Oct. 28 in the township.
Incidents include a vehicle being keyed, various thefts, and a Molotov cocktail being thrown at a home.

Oct. 23, 11:47 a.m.
A resident from the unit block of Nield Rd reported damage to her vehicle. Unknown person(s) keyed the driver's door while the car was parked on the street in front of the residence.

Oct. 23, 3:27 p.m.
The Giant Food Store, 950 Baltimore Pike, reported an attempted theft. The store manager stopped a shopper
who had loaded a shopping cart with laundry detergent and tried to exit the store without payment. The subject left the cart behind and fled the area in a gold sedan. $400 in merchandise was recovered. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.
Oct. 24, 8:41 p.m.
Report of a bicycle theft. A Springfield juvenile locked his bike at the Septa trolley station on Saxer Avenue and boarded the trolley. When he returned, he discovered the lock had been broken and the bike stolen. The bike was described as an orange and black Blocks Flyer BMX style bike. Det. James Devaney is handling the investigation.
Oct. 25, 11:37 a.m.
The Giant Food Store, 950 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Zakia Wilson, 29, of Philadelphia, was observed placing six 12-packs of soda into a shopping cart and exiting the store without payment. She was placed under arrest and cited for retail theft. $34.74 in merchandise was recovered. Det. Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.
Oct. 25, 10:44 p.m.
Report of a theft that occurred at the Springfield Healthplex, 194 W. Sproul Road. A Springfield resident had his gym bag stolen from an unsecured locker. The bag contained debit/credit cards, car keys, work ID, cash and clothing. Det. James Devaney is handling the investigation.
Oct. 26, 4:22 p.m.
Target, 1200 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Andrea Swede, 42, of Aston, was observed concealing clothing and electronics in her shopping cart. She proceeded through the self checkout and attempted to leave the store with $223.09 in unpaid merchandise. She was placed under arrest for retail theft. Det. Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.
Oct. 27, 3:23 a.m.
Report of a fire in front of a residence in the 100 block of Fairview Road. Sgt David Welsh responded and observed a homemade incendiary device burning on the side yard of the residence. A 40 oz. beer bottle was fashioned with a cloth wick and set on fire. It appeared the bottle was thrown at the house, but did not break. The Springfield Fire Company responded and extinguished the fire. Sgt. John DiTrolio is handling the investigation.
Oct. 28, 7:07 p.m.
Report of a theft that occurred at the Chuck E Cheese, 381 Baltimore Pike. A patron had her wallet stolen from the table while she was checking on her kids. The wallet contained $1,600 cash and a PA Access card. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation
