Springfield Police Report: Drug Crimes, Thefts, Burglary, More

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – Springfield Township Police released the latest crime report for the township on Tuesday, Dec. 19.

The report highlights police activity between Dec. 11 and Dec. 17.

Incidents included an attempted break in while a resident was home, a high school student selling pills,
crack and heroin possession, and more.

Dec. 11 10:23 a.m.
The Springfield High School reported a student in the principal's office for selling pills. Another student alerted staff that he was messaged through SnapChat to buy pills. School officials spoke to the suspected student and found that he was in possession of loose pills. Police later identified the pills as Clonazepam, a schedule 4 narcotic. The suspected student will be charged through juvenile petition for possession of a controlled substance. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Dec. 12 10:33 a.m.
Citadel Federal Credit Union, 943 W. Sproul Road, reported a fraudulent bank withdrawal in progress. Two females in a silver Hyundai were in the drive through lane attempting to make a cash withdrawal from a compromised checking account. The account had been "flagged" due previous fraudulent activity. While police were en route, the vehicle left the bank. Officers were able to stop the vehicle nearby and the occupants were positively identified by witnesses. Jessica Anne Marsten, 34, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Courtney Lee Robbins, 29, of Deepwater, New Jersey, were arrested and transported to police headquarters. Both were found in possession of heroin and crack cocaine. Both were charged with theft, drug possession and related offenses. Det James Devaney is handling the investigation.

Dec. 12 3:06 p.m.
A resident from the unit block of North Hillcrest Road reported a theft. The victim stated a male walked up her driveway and stole a case of Dasani water. The male entered a silver Honda occupied by several other males and drove from the area.

Dec. 13 8:06 a.m.
A resident from the unit block of Fairview Road reported a theft from vehicle. The victim stated she parked her vehicle for approximately 40 minutes in a common parking area for tenants. When she returned to the car, she discovered her wristlet purse missing from the front seat. The contents included $600, gift cards, and prescription medication. The vehicle was unlocked at the time of the theft. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.

Dec. 13 4:37 p.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported an employee theft. Shawnece Acura Sterling, 21, of Yeadon, was observed loading a gift card for $150 without making payment. She then attempted to make purchases with the card later in the day. Sterling's identity was confirmed and she will be charged with retail theft through court summons. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Dec. 13 8 p.m.
Kids Foot Locker, 1250 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. Employees reported a black female in her 40's stole a pair of Nike sneakers valued at $180. A description of the female was provided, but she could not be located. Det. Robert Nutley is handling the investigation.

Dec. 15 11:05 p.m.
A resident from the 300 block of Ridgewood Road reported a burglary in progress. The resident was home alone and heard someone knocking at her front door, but she did not answer. A few moments later, she heard someone attempting to open her rear sliding door. She looked out the window and saw a male trying to pry her door open. The male saw her in the house and fled on foot. She described the male as wearing all black clothing. Officers checked the area, but could not locate the subject. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Dec. 16 12:48 p.m.
Sprint PCS, 1144 Baltimore Pike, reported a retail theft. The store manager stated that a black male entered the store and stole an iPhone X from the display shelf. He then fled the store on foot. The male was described as wearing a purple shirt, gray sweater vest and ripped jeans. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Dec. 17 9:02 a.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported an intoxicated subject in the store. Officers contacted Adam Michael Shull, 29, of Havertown. Shull appeared lethargic and possibly under the influence of a controlled substance. He admitted to being in possession of heroin. Officers searched Shull and recovered a baggie of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with drug possession and related offenses. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Dec. 17 8: p.m.
Target, 857 Baltimore Pike, reported an employee theft. Caitlin Victoria Kelly-McNally, 27, of Broomall, was observed through store surveillance stealing cash from the register. She admitted to eight prior cash totaling in excess of $800. A search revealed that she was in possession of suspected marijuana and loose prescription medication. Kelly-McNally was placed under arrest and will be charged with theft and drug possession through court summons. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.
