Springfield Police Report: Fleeing Police, DUI, Thefts, Drugs
Police issued their latest crime report on Christmas Day. Incidents highlighted include fleeing police, DUI, thefts, and drug crimes.

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA – Springfield Township Police released the latest crime report for the township on Monday, Dec. 25.
The report highlights police activity between Dec. 18 and Dec. 24.
Incidents included fleeing police, DUI, thefts, and drug crimes.

Dec. 18, 3:46 p.m.
Ian Schultz 25 yrs. old from Havertown was arrested and charged with retail theft after being observed by Macy’s Security stealing $123.99 worth of merchandise from the store. He was taken into custody and taken to Springfield Court for arraignment.

Dec. 18, 8:43 p.m.
Sgt. Purcell observed a vehicle in the drive thru at Chick-fil-A on the 800 block of Baltimore Pike. The vehicle displayed a dead tag registration plate. Upon making contact with the driver, the driver exhibited signs of intoxication, and an odor of burnt marijuana was inside the vehicle. The driver claimed he did not have identification and was asked to step out of the vehicle. At this point the driver began to move from the drive-thru lane and made his way out to Woodland Avenue. An officer from Morton Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle continued to drive until crashing on Baltimore Pike at Bishop Avenue. The driver exited the vehicle and ran but was apprehended by police a short distance away. He was taken into custody, identified as Marcus Green, 33 of Drexel Hill, and charged with DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, fleeing a police officer, drug possession and numerous traffic offenses. He was held for arraignment at District Court.
Dec. 19, 7:42 p.m.
While on patrol near the Starbucks 1100 block of Baltimore Pike, Ofc. O’berg observed an argument in the parking lot involving two drivers of vehicles. Upon investigation, one of the drivers was found to be intoxicated. The subject was taken into custody and asked to give a blood test. He refused the test and will receive a summons charging him with DUI and related offenses.
Dec. 20, 8:26 a.m.
At about 8:08 a.m. a victim dropped off her child at Lil Tykes on the Pike daycare on the 900 block of Baltimore Pike. When she returned to her vehicle, she found her purse missing from inside the vehicle. Investigation showed a male in a white Nissan waited until the victim entered the facility and stole the purse.
Dec. 20, 6:02 p.m.
An 18-year-old female will be charged with retail theft after she was observed by Macy’s security stealing over $240 worth of merchandise. She was taken into custody and processed by Det. McCarthy who will file a summons.
Dec. 21, 9:37 p.m.
Macy’s security observed a 27-year-old female from Philadelphia select numerous items of clothing from the men’s department and conceal the items in a baby stroller and shopping bag. She exited the store through the mall and was apprehended. She was processed and will receive a summons charging her with retail theft.
Dec. 23, 10:15 p.m.
Ofc. Kingsbury investigated a traffic crash on the 300 block of Fairview Road in which a driver struck a parked vehicle. The driver was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. She consented a test of her blood and was released to a relative. Charges are pending.
Dec. 24, 2:08 p.m.
Tara Radin 50, of Havertown, was arrested for stealing over $600 worth of clothing from Target at the mall. She was taken into custody and charged with retail theft. She was taken for arraignment at Springfield Court.
Two unlocked vehicles on Nield and Hawarden roads were entered by an unknown person overnight Dec. 23 to Dec. 24. A wallet and small amount of change were taken as a result.
