Underage Drinking, Drugs, Thefts: Springfield Police Blotter

11 underage people were found drinking at a township home. The homeowner faces corruption of and furnishing alcohol to minors. More here.

SPRINGFIELD, PA – Springfield Township Police released their weekly crime report on Monday, Feb. 19.

The report covers a handful of police incidents between Feb. 12 and Feb. 17.

Incidents included an underage drinking party, retail thefts, drug possession, and more.

Feb. 12, 3:15 p.m.
Officers responded to a report of an intoxicated person walking along the 300 block of Gleaves Road. Officers located Ryan William Little, 28, of Collingdale, lying in the rear yard of a residence. Little appeared confused and admitted to being under the influence of Xanax. He was arrested and cited for public drunkenness. He was later released to his mother.

Feb. 12, 11:48 p.m.
While on routine patrol, Officer Stephen Hurwitz observed a vehicle driving without headlights in the area of North Norwinden Dive and East Springfield Road. A traffic stop was conducted and contact was made with the driver, Meghan Gray, 43, of Collingdale, and the passenger, Christopher McCorkle, 34, of Clifton Heights. In plain view was an unlabeled pill bottle containing white pills. Also inside the vehicle were various pill bottles and baggies containing suspected narcotics. Both subjects were placed under arrest and returned to police headquarters. Both were charged with drug possession, intent to deliver and related offenses. Det. Daniel McNeely is handling the investigation.

Feb. 13, 8 p.m.
Target at 1200 Baltimore Pike reported a retail theft. Jessica Stevens, 29, of Philadelphia, was observed concealing merchandise in an empty purse and attempting leave the store without rendering payment. Total amount of the theft was $276. Stevens was arrested and charged with retail theft. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Feb. 13, 9:39 p.m.
Macy's at 1250 Baltimore Pike reported a retail theft. Dulce Diaz, 31, of Upper Darby, was observed concealing merchandise in an empty stroller and attempting to leave the store without rendering payment. Total amount of the theft was $1,572. Diaz was arrested and charged with retail theft. Det. James Devaney is handling the case.

Feb. 15, 5:04 p.m.
Champs Sporting Goods at 1250 Baltimore Pike reported a retail theft. Two male customers entered the store
and asked an employee for two pairs of sneakers. After receiving the boxes, the suspects ran from the store
with the merchandise. Total amount of the theft was $365. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the case.

Feb. 17, 12:51 a.m.
Report of a loud party at a residence on the 200 block of Avon Road. Officers responded and heard several people speaking loudly at the rear of the residence. As the officers approached, the group fled into the house leaving the back door open. The homeowner met the officers at the door and acknowledged that her son had friends at the house. Officers observed the homeowner to be intoxicated and there was evidence of underage drinking. Eleven individuals under the age of 21 were located in the house and charged with underage drinking. The homeowner is facing charges of corruption of minors and furnishing alcohol to minors. Det. Bridget McCarthy is handling the investigation.
