The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Not "One of America's Great Newspapers" Today

I would like to thank the Wall Street Journal for the compassion and decency it has shown in coverage of the D. C. Naval Yard gun massacre atrocity.

Unlike the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, “One of America’s Great Newspapers” if it does say so itself, the 18 September edition of the Journal somehow manages to tell the story without a large photograph of the smiling killer appearing above the fold on the front of the first section.  The Journal provides a significant and poignant story about those whose lives and names we should remember, some of the victims of this latest act of savagery.

When individuals that equate infamy with fame are aggrandized by the media, we play into their hands, handing to them what they could not achieve in life through legitimate means.

The Wall Street Journal has provided a lesson that should be learned by others that believe sensationalism is necessary to sell newspapers.  Shame on the Post-Gazette!
