5 Fun Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

Celebrate chocolate, chili, and syrup at some of the events taking place on the first weekend of March in Bucks County.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It's time for March Madness.

What a month for celebration! You've got St. Patrick's Day. The First Day of Spring comes soon and, of course, there's Good Friday and Easter on the last day of the month. There's also March Madness, which is the start of the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, a time when thrills can happen in every game. Oh, and Major League Baseball begins its new season later this month too!

So get ready for a month filled with corned beef, Guinness, and candy!

Speaking of candy, Truman Drama is performing one of the first high school productions in the country of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory." Shows by the Bristol Township drama club run through Saturday.

Since we're talking about sweets, it's also maple syrup time. There are two events this weekend dedicated to something syrupy. See below.

Mardi Gras Celebration Underway At Sesame Place

Sesame Place Philadelphia is letting the good times roll as it opens for the season on Saturday with its second annual family-friendly Mardi Gras Celebration. The event at the Middletown Township amusement park includes the Sesame Street Mardi Gras Parade with everyone’s favorite furry friends dressed in their Mardi Gras best. Chilifest, Schlachtfest At Vereinigung Erzgebirge

Vereinigung Erzgebirge in Warminster is hosting a Chilifest on Saturday and the Schlachtfest on Sunday. The German-American Sports & Social Club on Davisville Road. The Chilifest takes place from 4-8 p.m. when attendees can vote on the best chili. Food and drinks can be purchased with tickets available at the door.

It's Maple Syrup Time in Tinicum, Doylestown

Two events this weekend are dedicated to Maple syrup. The first is Saturday's Maple Sugar Festival at Peace Valley Nature Center in Doylestown. Experience the way maple sugar was collected and made during the pioneer days. Small groups will travel to the sugar bush to bring back maple sap to the boiling pot of soon-to-be syrup. On Sunday, the Tinicum Conservancy will discuss the maple syrup process at the "Sugar Shack" on Headquarters Road. Both events are free.

Benjamin Parry Day Celebration Sunday In New Hope

The New Hope Historical Society presents walking tours of historic New Hope from 2-3 p.m. every Sunday at the Parry Mansion. The cost is $10. But this Sunday, the person the mansion is named after will also be honored. The borough is celebrating Benjamin Parry Day. Meet at Parry Mansion for a tour tracing Parry's life. A champagne reception follows to honor his birthday. Also, check out the Parry Clock, which has returned to the mansion. The event is free to attend.
