5K Donation Dash To Benefit Warminster Food Bank

WARMINSTER, PA —They will be running and walking Saturday to raise funds for the Warminster Food Bank.

The Branch Fitness Second Annual Warminster Food Bank Donation Dash 5K Run & Walk takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday at Warminster Community Park, 1100 Veterans Way. The event will be held rain or shine.

The run will be timed and sanctioned as a 5K race, organizers said. The cost is $30.

The cost for the fun run and walk is $15 with participants for both the 5K run and walk receiving an event T-Shirt.

Proceeds will benefit the Warminster Food Bank, which serves over 650 families per month in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Organizers said 95 percent of donations will go towards providing food to families in the community.

Despite it being a rainy day, last year’s race had 125 participants and raised $11,000.

“We were looking for an event that would help raise funds to support our mission,” said Mike Cerino, Warminster Food Bank's director. “We decided on a 5K run and walk since it would be a fun event for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities. Last year’s run and walk was a resounding success, even in the rain, and we’re hoping for a bigger turnout this year”

For those who can’t participate but want to help, monetary donations are accepted and sponsorship opportunities are available for area businesses.
