Keynote speakers were Colleen Brink and Paige Gardner from Habitat for Humanity of Bucks County. They thanked the residents for their volunteerism as well as the support of Habitat for Humanity.
During the event, Philanthropy Coordinator Rebecca Nixon presented President’s Volunteer Service Awards to 88 residents for service completed in 2018. Forty-five residents received Gold awards for 500 or more hours of service, and 43 residents received silver awards for 250-499 hours of service.
The President’s Volunteer Service Awards were created by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2003 “as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service,” according to their website.
In 2018, resident volunteers contributed over 75,000 hours of service on campus and at not-for-profits in the local community including local churches and synagogues, elementary schools, hospitals, Meals on Wheels, Senior Centers, Civil Air Patrol, food pantries, museums, and more.
“This celebration is a fantastic opportunity to show our gratitude to our many residents who are helping the Ann’s Choice community as well as the local community through their volunteer work,” said Manager of Resident Services Robin Kaufold.
