PA Man Lied About Shooting Plot After Fantasy Football Dispute: Feds

A 25-year-old Philadelphia man has been charged with making fake claims that a Fantasy Football group member was going to carry out a mass shooting in Europe, federal authorities said. Matthew Gabriel, 25, of Philadelphia, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Timothy J. Savage to two counts of interstate and foreign communication of a threat to injure, U.S. Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero said Wednesday. According to the guilty plea agreement, the defendant had an online disagreement with a member of his fantasy football chat group that prompted an investigation. (Read More)

False Claims Allege 5,000 Haitian Immigrants Coming To Montco Town

False rumors are circulating through the local community about Upper Merion accepting an influx of 5,000 immigrants from Haiti, the township announced this week. It's not clear where the rumors originated, but they have gained enough traction to spur the township's Board of Supervisors into issuing an official statement. NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA — Former President Donald Trump will not be attending the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa on Sunday, a Trump campaign official tells Patch. The campaign had previously confirmed the Republican presidential candidate planned to visit the National Shrine where he was expected to appear with Polish President Andrzej Duda for the dedication of a new Polish monument. 2 Teenagers Caught After Carjackings In Abington, Philly

Two teenagers are in custody following two carjackings Wednesday, including one in Philadelphia and the other in the parking lot of a township shopping center, police said. The suspects, an 18-year-old and a 14-year-old, were charged with robbery of a motor vehicle and related charges, Abington Police said. The investigation into the crimes is continuing. (Read More)

Man Faces Up To 40 Years For Repeatedly Raping Lower Bucks Girl

A Falls Township man faces up to 40 years in prison for repeatedly raping the daughter of the woman he was having a relationship with, starting when the girl was 8, authorities said. Cory Hegelein,33, of the township's Morrisville section, was sentenced on Wednesday after being found guilty in June to the rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, aggravated indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old, indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age, and corruption of minors, authorities said. $1 Million Lottery Jackpot Sold At Limerick Wawa

One lucky Wawa shopper in Montgomery County won a $1 million lottery jackpot, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced. The winner's ticket matched all five balls drawn, 1-2-3-23-40, to win the $1,011,945 prize. The winner was sold at the Wawa on 579 North Lewis Road in Limerick back on Sept. 9. Wawa will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. (Read More)
