WARMINSTER, PA —George Demetriou of Falls Township had just discussed school bus issues with the Pennsbury School Board when he asked his son whether he had anything to add.

"Go Birds," he said into the microphone as everyone chuckled.

Everyday issues are taking a back seat somewhat to the bigger story playing out in Philadelphia and its suburbs: The Philadelphia Eagles are in the NFC Championship game Sunday with a shot at the Super Bowl.

With fans hoping for a return to the Super Bowl since winning it in 2017, Philadelphia is embracing for the usual fan mayhem if the team beats the San Francisco 49ers: The city is greasing the poles.

Yes, "It's a Philly Thing."

And that's also the phrase capturing the city, the team, and its fan base since its arrival before the Eagles played the New York Giants at the Linc last Saturday.

The phrase has been slapped on T-shirts and even on cookies, like the ones selling at Lochel's Bakery in Hatboro, which has been blitzed with business for its Eagles cookies and cakes this past week.

But why drone on? Instead, fans can watch an "Eagles Drone Show" at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 7 p.m. Saturday.

In celebration of the Eagles advancing to the NFC Championship, a drove show will take place for 7 minutes above the Art Museum. Fans can watch at The Oval for the best viewing experience.

Larry Glowacki will be watching the game on his front lawn with his Langhorne home all decked out in green for the Eagles. He had more than 50 people watching the game against the New York Giants last week and expects even more Sunday.

A batch of Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts jerseys arrived at SWIT Sports in the Philadelphia Premium Outlets in Limerick Township just in time for the NFC championship game Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.

Manager Austin Surderski said the Hurts' jerseys had been sold out since Christmas. And they could be gone just as quickly.

Throughout the Delaware Valley, fans were getting fired up Friday.

In Horsham Township, employees at the municipal complex were decked out in Eagles green, with Township Manager Bill Walker even sporting a throwback logo sweatshirt from the 1970s.

"The energy in the building today is electric, with employees decked out in green to show support for our Philadelphia Eagles," Walker said. "Go Birds!"

And in the Neshaminy School District, the Maple Point Middle School held a pep rally with the band playing the Eagles theme song, "Fly Eagles Fly."
