Makeshift Meth Lab In Bathroom Sparked Warminster House Fire: Police

Warminster authorities said the house fire last month was caused by someone using a "one-pot" cooking method to make methamphetamine.

WARMINSTER, PA —A house fire last month was sparked by someone trying to make methamphetamine utilizing a "one-pot" cooking method in the home's bathroom, police said.

The Warminster Township police and fire departments responded at 10:31 p.m. on May 20 to the 700 block of Lillian Lane for a report of a house fire.

Police officers were directed to the basement bathroom area where smoke was in the air and the carpet was soaked with water.

The fire department determined there was still an active fire in the walls, police said.

After the fire was extinguished, the Warminster Fire Marshal and police on scene determined the fire was caused by someone in the house trying to make methamphetamine utilizing a "one-pot" cooking method in the bathroom, when it exploded starting the fire.

The Pennsylvania State Police Meth Lab Team was contacted to help with the recovery and dismantling of the remaining lab.

The Warminster Township Police Department said its investigation is ongoing.
