Man Faces 20 Years In State Prison For Bucks Co. Straw Gun Purchases

The Philadelphia man made 19 straw gun purchases from gun shops in four Bucks County towns, authorities said.

LOWER BUCKS COUNTY, PA —A Philadelphia man faces up to 20 years in state prison for making straw gun purchases in four Lower Bucks County communities.

Darryl Kaheim Baker, 29, of Philadelphia was sentenced Monday to 10-to-20 years in state prison for the straw purchase of 23 firearms, including 19 from gun shops in Warminster, Bristol Township, and Upper and Lower Southampton townships, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said.

The guns were bought between January 2019 and December 2020, authorities said.

Authorities said that eight firearms bought in Bucks County were recovered in Philadelphia, some in the possession of people prohibited from having firearms and others left behind at crime scenes in the city, where eight guns were recovered.

One of the recovered guns had an altered serial number and the other had an illegal Glock Switch installed making it fully automatic, authorities said.

Eight guns were recovered during criminal investigations in Philadelphia, authorities said.

Baker pleaded guilty Monday before Common Pleas Judge Wallace H. Bateman to 23 counts each of making false statements on firearm purchase forms and criminal conspiracy and one count each of on one count of dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, firearm ownership - duty of other persons, and illegal sales of a firearm and illegal sales of firearms to an ineligible transferee.

All the counts are felonies., authorities said.
