PECO Energy Imposters Scamming Customers, AG Warns
Scammers are using spoofed phone numbers affiliated with PECO to claim issues with a customer's meter, the state Attorney General said.
HARRISBURG, PA — The state's attorney general is warning residents throughout Lower Bucks County and the state to be aware of phone calls, text messages, and emails appearing to be from PECO Energy Company demanding immediate payment.
Scammers are using spoofed phone numbers — those seemingly affiliated with PECO —and claiming there are issues with a customer’s meter. The scammer threatens to disconnect services unless immediate payment is made, Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said.
PECO is reminding its customers that they will never demand immediate payment or require customers to pay for a bill in cash, prepaid debit card, credit card, gift card, or cryptocurrency.
