Police said that with the warmer weather, these types of crimes tend to increase. Police said they are investigating multiple incidents of reported thefts from vehicles.

Residents should also pay attention to newer vehicles that have key fobs that auto-unlock car doors within a certain range.

Police said that should especially be kept in mind when parking the vehicle, ensuring that the key fobs are stored far enough away when not in use so that the vehicles remain locked.

"Doing these simple things will help minimize the chances of you becoming a victim of this type of theft," police said.

Police said suspects seek unlocked vehicles that are "quick, easy targets where they can get in and out fast."

Many times, someone will walk around a complex or neighborhood trying door handles on vehicles looking for unlocked ones, police said.

Anyone who sees something suspicious or any illegal behavior occurring should call the police to have an officer dispatched to check the area as soon as possible. Residents should call 215-672-1000 (Non-Emergency Dispatch) or 911 for emergencies.
