We're In Love With Our Sports Teams Again: Philly Sports Chatter

It's a great time to root for the Phillies in the playoffs, the undefeated Eagles, the re-energized Flyers and the Sixers, who begin play.

PHILADELPHIA, PA —We're in love again and it's such a wonderful feeling.

The bitterness, anger and disappointment have all washed away as we bask in the glow of being in love with our Philadelphia sports teams once again.

This feeling doesn't —and hasn't —happened very often in most of our lifetimes. You can basically count championships on one hand.

But right now, at this very moment, our hearts have nothing but an overwhelming feeling of happiness and anticipation that this rollercoaster ride of being a Philly sports fan has us on top of the mountain right now.

The Phillies not only made it to the playoffs for the first time in 11 years but then won the Wild Card round and then handily defeated the defending champion Atlanta Braves at a rocking Citizens Bank Park where there was a whole lot of shakin' going on.

And now these Phillies, back in the championship series for the first time since 2008, take on the San Diego Padres Tuesday night before they will come back home for what should be a lovefest at CBP Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Phillies have done the impossible. They've taken up as much as our thought process and hearts as much as we devote to our Philadelphia Eagles. We Philly sports fans always bleed green.

These Eagles are off to an amazing start to their season, knocking off the Dallas Cowboys in prime time Sunday night and remaining as the NFL's only undefeated team.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is playing at an MVP level and all cylinders are clicking as Coach Nick Sirianni has shown that the league and the city that he is just as passionate as we are.

Like I wrote before, these Eagles look like they could be headed to the Super Bowl. They are that sound of a team.

And let's not forget our winter teams.

The Flyers, one of the worst teams in hockey in the past few years, have re-energized and refocused thanks to new Coach John Tortorella. His coaching style would have been loved by those Broad Street Bullies of yesteryear. This guy is as tough as nails.

Right now, the Flyers are 3-0 heading into a game against the Florida Panthers Wednesday night.

For the Sixers, this could be the year when everything finally comes together.

Gone is the distraction of Ben Simmons. With a full year of James Harden and a stronger and more physical bench, these Sixers under Coach Doc Rivers could go much farther than their usual early playoff exits of the last few years.

The Sixers start their season Tuesday night against the arch-rival Boston Celtics.

It all comes down to, of course, the health of star center Joel Embiid, who is probably considered the most beloved Philadelphia sports athlete though Bryce Harper is right on his heels.

It's just so great to be a Philly sports fan these days and so wonderful to have these strong feelings once again.

We have a little skip in our step, a little more pizzazz in our spirit and are even a little more happier at work and amongst family and friends.

We're basking in the glow again. And we're hoping it lasts for a long time.
