1. State grants for infrastructure, equipment upgrades released (citizensvoice.com) — Wilkes-Barre residents will see several upgrades thanks to new state Local Share Account grants, including $250,000 for Public Square pathways, $250,000 for City Hall renovations, and nearly $60,000 for fire and EMS equipment. Additional funding supports King's College, Wilkes University's nursing simulation lab, and the Wyoming Valley Catholic Youth Center. Dozens of nearby Luzerne County communities are also receiving infrastructure and equipment grants.
   

2. 40 years later, the Kirby's lights are still shining in downtown Wilkes-Barre (timesleader.com) — Downtown Wilkes-Barre's F.M. Kirby Center is celebrating 40 years as a revitalized performing arts hub, credited with helping bring life back to the city's core. Local leaders describe its economic impact, free youth programs, and community-backed renovations that keep families, children, and visitors coming downtown for arts, education, and entertainment. The piece also honors founder Al Boscov's role and ongoing community support.
   

3. Wilkes-Barre man faces third upskirting case after Hanover Township charges (fox56.com) — A Wilkes-Barre man is facing a third set of invasion-of-privacy charges after Hanover Township police say he secretly recorded an upskirt video of a woman at a local Dollar General. His phone was previously seized after alleged similar incidents in Wilkes-Barre Township and Plains Township, and he is now jailed without bail as the cases move through court.
   

4. Memorial golf tournament raises thousands for cancer wellness center (citizensvoice.com) — A memorial golf tournament closely tied to Wilkes-Barre residents raised more than $9,000 this year for the Cancer Wellness Center of NEPA. Held at Wyoming Valley Country Club, the event honors longtime Wilkes-Barre golfer Isabelle McGuire Spohrer and is co-led by a Wilkes-Barre resident. Over 25 years, participants have generated more than $135,000 for breast cancer support and research.
