$22K Fraud Scam Costs Lower Makefield Twp. Resident

Lower Makefield Township Police Friday released its blotter of criminal incidents for the past week.

LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA —A fatal stabbing took place last Friday. Police have also dealt with solicitor complaints this past week.

Police also reported the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old woman by her ex-boyfriend last Friday. A Churchville man has been charged.

SOLICITORS —Sherwood Drive and Robin Hood Drive, reported at 5:11 p.m. The complainant reported that solicitors for Victory Home Remodeling soliciting without permits. They were advised to cease soliciting until permits were obtained.

Feb. 21

FRAUD —Unit block of Lower Hilltop Road, reported at 5:15 a.m. The complainant reported that someone hacked their Instacart account and placed an order for Amazon gift cards to be delivered to their address. They were able to cancel the order immediately.

Feb. 20

FRAUD —400 block of Franklin Circle, reported at 2:28 p.m. The complainant reported entering
and winning what they believed to be a Facebook contest. They sent their personal information to claim their winnings and sent $800 to win $7,800. When they received the check, it was for $21,447.46. They brought it to the bank where they were made aware it was a fraudulent check. Their bank account was already accessed at that point and the victim is out $22,247.46.

Feb. 19

THEFT —100 block of Stony Hill Road, reported at 2:24 p.m. The complainant reported the theft of
jewelry and electronics sometime between August 2022 and February, while incarcerated.

Feb. 16

FRAUD —900 block of Piper Lane, reported at 9:01 a.m. The complainant reported that someone hacked their Instacart account and ordered groceries to their home. The groceries were then taken. An investigation is ongoing.
