Weigel fled the scene, prompting a pursuit by law enforcement on Interstate 295.

During the chase, Weigel inflicted self-harm by stabbing himself. Police successfully apprehended him using a Taser, and he is currently under custody.

Assistant District Attorney AJ Garabedian, who also appeared on the video arraignment, asked the judge to deny bail saying the charges would likely be upgraded to first degree murder and because the attack was witnessed by law enforcement.

Judge Petrucci denied bail and directed that Weigel be sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility following his discharge from the hospital. The judge added a condition that Weigel have no contact with the victim's family following his release.

Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn and Lower Makefield Township Police Chief Kenneth D. Coluzzi will hold a news conference on Monday to provide details about the homicide.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 27 before District Judge Corryn Kronnagel in Morrisville.
