Lots Of Roadwork Slowing Travel In Bucks Co. This Week

Ongoing projects, guard rail repairs, paving and more are slowing down commutes in lower and central Bucks.

It's fall and in Eastern Pennsylvania, that means it's roadwork season. And the season is in full bloom in Bucks County this week.

Commuters in lower and central Bucks County will have plenty of chances to get slowed down by construction this week. From ongoing construction projects to tree trimming to seasonal pothole patching, there's lots of work being done by PennDOT and other government agencies.

Here's a look at what to expect on Bucks County's roads this week and in the weeks to come:

Scudder Falls Bridge

Commuters to and from New Jersey are well aware of the work being done on the new bridge, and this week is no different. River Road (Rt. 32) near the bridge on I-295 is closed and detoured from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. through Friday, Oct. 11. Motorists are advised to use Taylorsville Road as a detour, connecting at Woodside Road in Lower Makefield and E. Afton Avenue in Yardley. The closure is needed for demolition of old bridge work across River Road.

Guard Rail Repairs

PennDOT crews are working to repair guard rails, which will mean lane closures in several areas. They'll run through Thursday and are from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. They include:

  • Both directions of Interstate 95 between Rt. 413 and Academy Road in Bristol and Bensalem
  • Both directions of U.S. 13 between U.S. 1 and Levittown Parkway in Falls
  • Woodhaven Road (Rt. 63) from the on-ramp to southbound I-95 in Bensalem.

Big Oak Road Bridge

A portion of Big Oak Road in Middletown remains closed as work to repair the bridge over I-295 progresses. The work started Sept. 21 and was expected to take at least a month. As a detour, drivers are directed to use Oxford Valley Road, Heacock Road, Stony Hill Road, Langhorne yardley Road and Township Line Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Tree Trimming

Lanes are being closed this week in several Bucks County locations as PennDOT crews do tree-trimming. The work is going on from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. and is expected to last through Friday, Oct. 11. Work sites are:

  • Main Street/Limekiln Pike (Rt. 152) between West Peace Valley Road and Peace Valley Road in New Britain and Chalfont.
  • Radcliffe Street between Lafayette and Washington streets in Bristol

U.S. 1, Street Road in Bensalem

Nighttime lane closures are scheduled for this week on U.S. 1 and Street Road in Bensalem as construction there continues. The roadwork and bridge construction is part of an ongoing PennDOT project to widen and improve a 1.3-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bensalem. Also this week, Business U.S. 1 will have lane closures as a new phase of the project gets started.

Water Main In Warminster/Warwick

Work by Warwick Township to install a water main this week will cause a lane on Bristol Road to be closed both there and in Warminster. And motorists should get used to it — the overnight work is expected to run through December. The lane closure is between Tulip Road and Ivy Brook Boulevard in Warminster, Ivyland and Warwick, officials said. It began Monday, Oct. 7.
The lane closure will be in place Mondays through Fridays, from 7 p.m.-5:30 a.m. and will last through mid-December, according to PennDOT.

Other Road Work

  • River Road (Rt. 32) between Windy Bush Road and the U.S. 202 southbound interchange in New Hope and Solebury has weekday lane closures in the evenings and overnight. Crews are working from 7 p.m.-6 a.m. weekdays through Oct. 25.
  • Lane closures on Ridge Road between Rt. 313 (Dublin Pike) and Kellers Church Road in East Rockhill and Bedminster are planned for 8 a.m.-4 p.m. through Oct. 25.
