Scudder Falls Bridge Ramp Closures Start Monday
Portions of the interchange on the New Jersey side of the bridge will be closed for 18 straight weeks.

YARDLEY, PA — Round-the-clock ramp closures related to the Scudder Falls Bridge construction will begin on Monday, impacting commuters who cross into New Jersey on a regular basis.
Starting Monday, portions of the I-295/N.J. Rt. 29 interchange (Exit 76) on the New Jersey side of the bridge will be closed to traffic for 18 straight weeks, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission announced.
Three traffic patterns at and around the interchange will be subject to detours, according to the commission (click to see a detour map here):

- Access to Rt. 29 southbound from I-295 northbound (the last exit in New Jersey) will have a detour. Proceed across the Scudder Falls Bridge for a u-turn at the Taylorsville Road interchange (Exit 10) in Pennsylvania, taking I-295 southbound across the bridge for connection with Route 29 southbound via the first New Jersey exit ramp and the downstream roundabout.
- Access to Route 29 northbound from I-295 eastbound and southbound (first New Jersey exit after crossing the Scudder Falls Bridge from Pennsylvania) will have a detour. Continue along I-295 southbound to Exit 73-A (Scotch Road North), use the exit’s loop ramps to make a u-turn onto I-295 northbound for return to the Rt. 29 interchange (Exit 76) and the ramp to Rt. 29 northbound.
- Access from Rt. 29 northbound and southbound to I-295 northbound and westbound and the Scudder Falls Bridge into Pennsylvania will have a detour. Proceed into the downstream roundabout and use the ramp for I-295 southbound, proceed to Exit 73-A (Scotch Road North), use the exit’s loop ramps to make a u-turn onto I-295 northbound and travel across the bridge to I-295 westbound in Pennsylvania.
The work is part of a construction project to replace the aging Scudder Falls Bridge and build 4.4 miles of highway and bridge improvements between the Newtown-Yardley Road/Rt. 332 interchange in Pennsylvania and the Bear Tavern Road/County Rt. 579 interchange in New Jersey.
