FALLSINGTON, PA —An individual is in custody for making alleged threats against three schools, school officials said in a statement Thursday.

Schools Superintendent Thomas Smith sent a letter to parents saying they were informed by the Lower Makefield Township Police about an individual taken into custody after being overheard at a local store earlier Thursday afternoon making "non-specific" threats.

The threats were against Pennsbury High School, Charles Boehm Middle School, and Village Park Elementary School, the superintendent stated. School officials said they believe the unnamed individual attended the schools.

"This is an unfortunate reminder that the Pennsbury community is not immune from the realities of the times in which we live," Smith said.

School officials say the threat was non-specific because the individual did not state details or dates/times. As a precautionary measure, school officials requested a police presence in and around the buildings mentioned during school dismissal.

A message was left for comment from the Lower Makefield Township Police regarding the individual in custody and details of the threats.

"We are thankful for the swift response by the Lower Makefield Township Police," Smith stated. "As always, we are grateful for our partnerships with our local police departments, and we appreciate their efforts to ensure our students and staff are safe."

Smith stated that while sending the letter will heighten concerns, especially with the school year just starting, the superintendent felt it best to "timely" communications regarding student and staff safety.
