YARDLEY, PA —First it was called charming. Now the borough can add "adorable" to its name.

Yardley has been named among three in Bucks County as one of the "12 Most Adorable Towns In Pennsylvania" by World Atlas, joining New Hope and Doylestown.

Less than three months after being ranked as one of the state's "Most Charming" towns, Yardley can add another honor to its credentials.

"That's wonderful," Councilman David Appelbaum told Patch Thursday. "It's truly an honor that we've been named. But, of course, we already knew that."

Like nearby New Hope, World Atlas called Yardley another "adorable" town along the Delaware River's eastern shores.

It's "a beauty to discover," World Atlas said.

The picturesque waterfront setting is among Yardley's distinctive features, said World Atlas, noting that visitors can take strolls along the riverbank or enjoy the magnificent vistas of the Delaware River.

"The town's beautifully maintained 18th- and 19th-century buildings provide a window into its illustrious past ... Yardley also holds several community activities year-round reflecting the town's active sense of community.

"For visitors seeking a tranquil and endearing small-town experience, Yardley is a gorgeous destination boasting natural beauty, historical appeal, and community spirit."

Appelbaum said the rating reflects the hard work that the government and non-profit organizations do to improve the quality of life of borough residents.

In late April, PureWow, a digital company that publishes women's lifestyle content, ranked Yardley No. 6 of 16 "most charming towns" in Pennsylvania, which would make for an ideal place to live.

PureWow said that Yardley —and neighboring Lower Makefield Township —has many things to do, listing Shady Brook Farm, Touchstone Art Gallery, the 9/11 Memorial Garden, Vault Brewing Co., and Masters of the Skies.

Also making the World Atlas list across Pennsylvania are Jim Thorpe, Ridgway, Lititz, Wellsboro, Honesdale, Stroudsburg and Milford. To read more, click here.
