Yardley Is No Place For Hate, Councilman Says
Yardley Borough Councilman David Appelbaum reacted to a Pride flag being destroyed at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church on Monday.
YARDLEY, PA —Yardley Borough Councilman David Appelbaum is speaking out about vandalism to a Pride flag flying at a borough church.
Appelbaum, who has organized the borough's Pride Day events over the past two years, responded to a Patch article in which the Pride flag was destroyed at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
"In Yardley, in the face of intolerance, we choose love and acceptance," Appelbaum said in a Facebook post. "We will not let the theft and desecration of St. Andrew's Pride flag dampen our spirits, but rather, we will use this as a reminder of the importance of creating a welcoming and inclusive community for all. We stand proudly with our LGBTQ+ friends, neighbors, and family and will continue to work towards a world where everyone can live their truth without fear of discrimination or prejudice."
Appelbaum mentioned such places in the borough as the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Yardley Tattoo, and The Rainbow Room.
