America turns 250 July 4. A statewide series of scavenger hunt events lets you learn Rhode Island's revolutionary history.
As America approaches its 250th birthday, a series of statewide scavenger hunts provide a chance to learn Rhode Island's revolutionary history.
The RI 250 Quest is a "once-in-250-year opportunity to explore Rhode Island's revolutionary history and have fun learning with a statewide series of scavenger hunt events."

The eight-day event spread over a little more than two months involves eight Rhode Island towns, each with an accompanying theme, such as Freedom for Providence, defiance for Warwick and leadership for Coventry.

"You'll get team t-shirts and a swag bag with your game codes for each town at the beginning," the event description says. "You can go at your own pace throughout the 10 weeks of the event series!"

"Individuals can participate or enter as a team of up to four members," the description says.

"Using the MooveGo XR app on your smartphone or tablet device, you'll be led on self-guided driving and walking tours to locations where history happened," it says. "You'll meet our historians through dozens of short videos, then answer trivia questions, solve puzzles and play mini-games to earn points. Throughout the Quest, you can watch the state leaderboard to see how your team is competing and learn if you have won prizes!"
The event kicks off May 2 in North Kingstown.
