Cranston Thief Stole $86,599.87: Cops
The Cranston woman fraudulently obtained public assistance, police said.
CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston woman stole more than $10,000 worth of property, police said.
Osmara Cerrato Calderon, 33, actually stole much more than $10,000 worth of property, according to a media release from the Rhode Island State Police, who put the number at $86,599.87.
Cerrato Calderon was arrested shortly after 6:30 p.m. Friday and charged with obtaining more than $10,000 worth of property by false pretenses or personation, making a false statement to obtain replacement public assistance, providing a false document to a public official, fraudulently obtaining public assistance, and the fraudulent use of food stamps, according to the release.

"This arrest was the result of a Barracks investigation and (Cerrato Calderon) turning themselves into the Wickford Barracks," the release said.
Cerrato Calderon was processed, arraigned and released with a court date, according to the release.
