MA Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Rhode Island Prison For Wrong-Way Crashes: AG
Six were injured — four seriously — in one of a series of crashes, according to the attorney general's office.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A Massachusetts man was sentenced to a 10-year prison term for driving the wrong way on Interstate 195 in East Providence and crashing "head-on with multiple vehicles," according to the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office.
Cary Guy, 33, injured six — four seriously — in one of the May 2022 crashes, the attorney general's office said in a media release.

Guy was also sentenced to 10 years of probation, alcohol counseling and treatment, and a six-year loss of his driver's license after he's released from prison, according to the release.
Prior to his sentencing, Guy pleaded no contest to four counts of driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury, four counts of driving to endanger resulting in serious bodily injury, and two counts of driving to endanger resulting in physical injury, the release said.

Guy "drove his motor vehicle in the wrong direction on Route 195 East and collided head-on with multiple vehicles," according to the release.
Guy also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, the release said.

"While at the hospital, law enforcement officials attempted a field sobriety test and requested (Guy) submit to a chemical blood test, to which he refused," the release said. "Officials then obtained a search warrant for (his) blood, and the test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .109."

The Rhode Island State Police determined Guy was driving at 88 mph just prior to the crash, according to the release.
