The Rhode Island Department of Health issued an overdose spike alert in five towns.
The Rhode Island Department of Health issued an overdose spike alert in five towns.
The department reported increased drug overdose activity from March 2 through Monday in Cranston, Burrillville, Foster, Glocester and Scituate.
"These alerts are issued when a Rhode Island municipality or region has more non-fatal overdoses than usual in a week," the department said in a social media post.

"In Rhode Island, every city and town has seen an overdose," the post said. "Illicit fentanyl continues to dominate the drug supply and has been detected in stimulants like cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, as well as counterfeit pills."
