Frigid Temperatures To Hit Rhode Island This Weekend: Latest Forecast

The temperature plummets to 5 degrees Friday night following Wednesday's rain and snow.

Rain and snow will pelt Rhode Island Wednesday night before the temperature plummets to a frigid 5 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

"Frigid temperatures will expand across the eastern 2/3 of the country behind an Arctic cold front," according to the National Weather Service.

"This Arctic blast will be accompanied by gusty winds, leading to dangerous wind chills," the National Weather Service said.

The chance of precipitation Wednesday night is 40% but Thursday will be sunny with a high near 42 degrees, according to the National Weather Service forecast. Thursday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 23 degrees.

Friday will be partly sunny with a high around 33, but will drop to a low of 5 degrees that night with winds gusting up to 23 mph.

Saturday will remain cold with the high temperature reaching only 16 degrees, but will be mostly sunny.

The Saturday night temperature drops back down to 5 degrees with a 30% chance of snow after 3 a.m.

Even more snow is likely Sunday, Sunday night, Monday and Monday night, according to the National Weather Service forecast.
