Bamboo Trellis Workshop with Blithewold's Director of Horticulture, Fred Perry

Fred, also our Grounds Manager, has years of experience harvesting the stalks and then constructing unique bamboo vine supports, trellises, and pergolas for the gardens. In this workshop, Fred will give a brief history of the bamboo plant, discuss its creative applications in the garden, and highlight popular trellis and support designs. After Fred has demonstrated stalk preparation, fastening techniques, and the trellis building process, you will get to build your own trellis out of bamboo harvested from Blithewold’s grove.

All materials will be provided. Pre-registration required.
