Cloche Garden Workshop

Join us for a hands-on workshop to create a one-of-a-kind cloche garden to take home.

Cloche (pronounced kl-osh) is the French word for “bell.” The original cloches were large bell-shaped jars that 19th-century French market gardeners placed over plants in spring and fall to act as portable miniature greenhouses. At one time, these glass jars covered the acres of fields outside Paris that supplied out-of-season vegetables to the city’s households and restaurants.

Blithewold often uses cloches as an alternative to flower arrangements in the winter months. They make an elegant and unusual centerpiece or a perfect holiday gift. Join us for a hands-on workshop to create a one-of-a-kind cloche garden to take home. All materials are included, including plants grown at Blithewold.

This workshop will take place in Blithewold’s Carriage House. Refreshments will be served.
