Carbuncle Pond Stocked With Trout for Fishing Season
A local pond was stocked with trout this week to kick off fall freshwater fishing season.

Coventry is ready for fall fishing season after a local pond was stocked with trout by the Department of Environmental Management’s Division of Fish and Wildlife.
The DEM finished loaded over 4,000 trout in ponds and rivers across the state on Friday.
Carbuncle Pond in Coventry was one of the selected locations to be filled with brook, brown and rainbow trout.

Other locations stocked by the DEM include Meadowbrook Pond in Richmond, Olney Pond in Lincoln, Barber Pond in South Kingstown, Silver Spring Pond in North Kingstown, Round Top Ponds in Burrillville, Upper and Lower Melville Ponds in Middletown and Wood River from Route 165 to Barberville.
Fishers ages 15 and older are required to have a 2014 fishing license to catch the trout and they must have a Trout Conservation stamp to fish or possess a trout in a catch-and-release or “fly-fishing only” area.

Licenses and Trout Conservations stamps can be obtained at the Portsmouth Town Clerk’s office or any authorized business. Trout Conservation stamps cost $5.50 and license costs vary.
Licenses can also be obtained at DEM’s Boat Registration and Licensing Office, 235 Promenade St. in Providence, or online on the DEM Fishing Licenses page.
