Admission to the Audubon Society of Rhode Island’s Environmental Education Center is free today and on the first Saturday of every month, courtesy of a grant from the Citizens Bank Foundation.
Families can explore the Center's exhibits which represent some of Rhode Island’s diverse habitats including upland meadow and cornfields, wetlands, salt marshes and the Narragansett Bay shoreline.
Today's free programs include: (Note: Environmental Education Center opened 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

- Spot the American Flag: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (July 4th is coming! Help the Audubon Society get ready! Try to spot all 10 American Flag pictures in the exhibit hall. Spot all 10 and get a 4th of July prize to take home.
- Nature Craft: 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
- Nature Story: 1:30 p.m.
- Nature walk: 3:00 p.m. (weather permitting)
Special event: Big Night for Salamanders (Join Sarah Marwil Lamstein, author of Big Night for Salamanders, for a presentation about the nature of salamanders and the role humans can play in their survival. After the presentation Sarah will sign copies her book Big Night for Salamanders, available in the Audubon Society of Rhode Island Nature Shop. Registration for 10:30 am children’s program is required as space is limited. Fee for children’s program: $5 per member child/ $7 per non-member child. There is no fee or registration required for the book signing.)
