The (2-5, 2-4 in league play) traveled to North Kingstown High School to take on the Skippers (4-5, 3-5 in league play) on Friday night in a boys volleyball match. The Oakers displayed great hustle and tenacity the entire night, but the Skippers defeated them three games to one.
Coventry trailed early in the first game 8-5, before reeling off five consecutive points to take the lead. The Skippers slowly inched ahead and came away with the 25-19 victory in the first game.
The Skippers controlled the second game from the outset. They had a slim advantage, 4-3, early in the game. However, a 12-4 run opened up a 16-7 lead. An unforced error by Coventry junior Brandon Tordoff ended the game, as North won it 25-15.

In the third game of the match, the Oakers came out strong, opening up a 4-0 lead. North Kingstown fought back to take a 10-8 lead.
Coventry scored seven out of the next eight points, surging ahead 15-11. North battled back, tying the game at 22, but ultimately the Oakers forced a fourth game with the 25-23 victory.

The Skippers came out focused in the final game. They led by double digits for the majority of the game. Coventry's Dean Sadowski served it into the net, ending the match. North Kingstown took the game 25-15 and the match 3-1.
North Kingstown head coach, Joanne Fitts, spoke about the serving and offense. "We did really well serving to the corners and serving deep," she said, "We have been working on trying to spread our offense."
Coventry's coach, Jonathan Bartlett, spoke about adjustments the team needed to make without a key player. "I was missing my starting setter, so I took my best power hitter out of position to set," he said.
"I thought it went relatively well for the most part," he said, "North Kingstown was serving good from the line."
