Coronavirus In Rhode Island: 366 New Cases, 13 Deaths

The number of cases in Providence alone has exceeded 1,000.

PROVIDENCE, RI — There are 366 new cases of coronavirus in Rhode Island Friday and 13 additional deaths. In total, there have been 4,177 confirmed cases in the state and 118 fatalities, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health.

The number of cases in Providence alone has topped 1,000, while the number of cases in other cities and towns continues to slowly increase.

During Thursday's news conference, Gov. Gina Raimondo revealed the state's latest models, which predict 2,250 hospitalizations at the project May 8 peak. The actual experience could be better, Raimondo said, if Rhode Islanders continue to strictly follow social distancing mandates and stay at home as much as possible.
