Rhode Island's Total Coronavirus-Related Deaths Pass 200

For the second day in a row, Rhode Island broke its record of the largest single-day increase in cases of coronavirus.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ€” For the second day in a row, Rhode Island broke its record for the largest single-day increase in new cases of the coronavirus. The Rhode Island Department of Health reported 437 cases and 13 deaths, bringing the death toll above 200.

In total, there have been 6,699 cases and 202 deaths. As of Friday, 267 people were in the hospital with COVID-19, and 48 are on ventilators.

Throughout the crisis, the majority of deaths have been in nursing homes and other congregate care settings. Data released by the department Thursday night shows that Orchard View Manor in East Providence has the highest concentration of both cases and fatalities.
