Gov. Raimondo To Hold Second Coronavirus News Conference For Kids
After more than 15,000 questions were submitted for the first, Gov. Gina Raimondo is holding a second special news conference for kids.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ Following the success of the first, Gov. Gina Raimondo announced Thursday that she will hold a second special news conference for kids next week. Questions can be submitted in advance through a Google form.
The conference will be held at 1 p.m. on April 30, Raimondo said. Rhode Island kids submitted more than 15,000 questions ahead of the first conference, which was held on April 1. Raimondo and her husband, Andy Moffat, sat in front of the State Room's fireplace, wearing jeans and speaking directly to kids. Questions ranged from when beaches will reopen to whether the Easter Bunny was allowed to visit homes during the statewide shutdown of nonessential businesses.
Questions for the upcoming conference can be submitted here.

The announcement came the same day that Rhode Island's schools were closed for the remainder of the school year. Distance learning is going well, Raimondo said, and it would be "irresponsible" to send kids back to school in large groups for the last few weeks of the semester. Speaking directly to students, the governor expressed her sympathy to those who are bored or struggling with learning at home, those who miss their friends and teachers and especially the high school Class of 2020, who will miss out on all the fun of proms, graduations and other senior activities.
