Coronavirus in RI: RIPTA Increases Cleaning In Buses, Terminals
"Keeping our employees and our passengers safe is our top priority," RIPTA's CEO said.

PROVIDENCE, RI —In response to concerns over the spread of the new coronavirus in the state, the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority has implemented new safety measures to keep buses disinfected and ease public worry. All facilities are frequently cleaned using cleaners that meet the guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the department said in a statement.
"Keeping our employees and our passengers safe is our top priority," Scott Avedisian, RIPTA's CEO, said. "That’s why we are increasing our cleaning measures but also stressing the importance of everyone following common-sense, good hygiene measures such as washing your hands frequently and being careful not to touch your face."
All buses and facilities, including restrooms and other high-traffic areas, are being frequently cleaned, RIPTA said, and the department is working with the Rhode Island Department of Health to make sure all appropriate measures have been taken.
