Cranston Man Shoots At Driver In MA Road Rage Incident: Police

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man was arrested Friday on a Massachusetts warrant after police said he shot at another driver in a road rage incident.

Cranston police said Michael Sylvester, 43, was wanted out of Franklin, Massachusetts on felony assault and weapons charges.

Around 5 p.m., Friday, a road rage incident was reported to Franklin police. According to police, the complainant told Franklin officers he made an abrupt turn in front of a dark-colored Honda Accord. Police said the Honda driver, later identified as Sylvester, sped up behind the victim and shot at their car several times.

Another vehicle passing by was also struck by bullets, according to police.

Franklin police said they were able to identify Sylvester through his vehicle registration. Then on Saturday, Cranston police said they checked Sylvester's home and saw his vehicle parked in the driveway.

Cranston officers then got a warrant and charged Sylvester with carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without an FID card, two counts of discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, seven counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault to murder-armed and three counts of malicious destruction of property over $1,200.
