Rhode Island Governor Back In Coronavirus Quarantine

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo is again in self-quarantine for a potential coronavirus exposure.

Josh Block, the governor's press secretary, said Raimondo is expected to be out of quarantine on Thursday and will work from home until then. Her weekly news conference, usually held Thursdays at 1 p.m., has been rescheduled to Friday.

"Governor Raimondo was informed that she had a close contact last week who tested positive," Block said. "She has been in quarantine and has tested negative repeatedly, including [Monday.]"

Raimondo and several other senior state officials were previously in quarantine in December after Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott, the director of the Rhode Island Department of Health, tested positive for coronavirus. Alexander-Scott was asymptomatic, and Raimondo tested negative throughout her quarantine.
