RI Election Board Approves 6 Of 7 Recount Requests

The only recount request denied was Patrick Maloney's (I), who lost the Warwick City Council Ward 1 race to William Foley (D)​ by 631 votes.

RHODE ISLAND — The Rhode Island Board of Elections on Friday morning approved all but one of seven requests for recounts from candidates in the 2022 election.

The only recount request denied was from Patrick Maloney (I), who lost the Warwick City Council Ward 1 race to incumbent William Foley (D) by 631 votes. That was a 14.3 percent difference in votes, which falls well above the minimum one percent difference requirement for a race of that size.

Little Compton Town Council (top five elected)

  • Requested by: Maureen Rego (R) – 975 votes (sixth most)
  • Andrew Wilder Iriarte Moore (D) – 980 votes (fifth most)

Cranston School Committee Ward 5 (nonpartisan, one elected)

  • Requested by: Arthur Scavitti Sr. – 2,093 votes
  • Tera Norberg – 2,139 votes

Scituate School Committee (top three elected)

  • Requested by: Lori Hart LaFauci (R) – 2,221 votes
  • Coleen Pendergast (D) – 2,227 votes
  • Colleen Rose (R) – 2,828 votes
  • Erika Anne McCormick (R) – 2,485 votes

State Rep. District 21 in Warwick

  • Requested by: Marie Hopkins (R) — 2,578
  • Camille Vella-Wilkinson (D) — 2,615
